I have been drawing since I was young kid and I have always loved art. Most of the art teachers I have had in my school years had always encouraged me to keep on practicing and doing what I love. In 8th grade my art teacher, Mr. Cox, bought a sketchbook for me as it was my last year of middle school before going to highschool. In the back of the sketchbook he left a note saying "I have enjoyed watching you grow as an artist. I hope you keep at it and pursue it in later years..."

I still have that sketchbook he gave me and will keep it forever as a goodbye gift from him. I actually got serious about learning how to draw in his class and that's when I began studying art and trying new things. I began learning about different media for example, watercolor and acrylics. I alawys tried new and challenging things trying to figure out what my strength and weaknesses are. I was drawing every single day and my art was getting better and better. I continued to watch youtube videos and art tutorials about different techniques in drawing.

Today I still watch youtube videos learning more and more about art. I also started learning more about other artists and the history. Two artist I have learned about are Chuck Close and Kehinde Whiley. These two are iconic artists that people should really look into. The photo above is my latest drawing and if you were to look at a drawing from last to this year you would see a huge improvement. The key to my growth as an artist is consistency, so if I were to stop drawing obviously my growth would slow down.

In conclusion, for me to get to this point in my art journey took time and effort. If you want to create beautiful art pieces you are going to need patience which is really important because even I still struggle with having patience. Patience is key and that goes for all artists.
