As a beginner you shouldn't start out with the really expensive cameras, before you buy the high end gear you first need to learn the basics. Right now I have the "Canon Powershot ELPH180," which is a camera you can buy for about $109.99 on Amazon. Im extremely happy with the pics it is able to take and it very easy to move around. I plan on upgrading to a Canon t6i which costs about $500-$550 on Amazon.

Some good brands to buy your first camera from are Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Panasonic. You should learn about the different type of camera lenses that are sold for example, telephoto lenes are used for taking pics of things that are far away and are used for wildlife or sports photography. While wide angled lenses are used for interior, architecture, or landscape photos.
